BetterMemo ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Audio Recordings

When you create voice memos, we process your audio recordings to provide transcription and AI-powered categorization services. Audio files are:

  • Stored locally on your device by default
  • Optionally backed up to secure cloud storage if you enable sync
  • Sent to OpenAI for transcription (processed according to OpenAI's privacy policy)

Transcriptions and Analysis

We use AI services for transcription and categorization. Your transcribed text is processed to extract categories, tags, tasks, and date/time information. This data is stored locally and optionally synced to the cloud.

Account Information

BetterMemo uses anonymous authentication. We generate a unique device identifier (UUID) that is stored securely on your device. We do not collect your name, email, or other personal identifying information unless you choose to provide it.

Usage Data

We may collect anonymous usage statistics to improve the app, including:

  • Number of memos created
  • Feature usage patterns
  • App crashes and error logs

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide voice memo transcription and organization services
  • Extract tasks, categories, and relevant metadata from your recordings
  • Enable cloud backup and sync (if enabled)
  • Improve our services and develop new features
  • Process payments for premium subscriptions

Data Storage and Security

Your data security is our priority:

  • All data is stored locally on your device using secure storage methods
  • Cloud sync uses Supabase with encrypted connections (TLS/SSL)
  • Sensitive data is stored in secure device storage (SecureStore)
  • Audio files in cloud storage are associated with your anonymous ID only

Third-Party Services

BetterMemo uses the following third-party services:

  • OpenAI - For AI transcription and categorization
  • Supabase - For optional cloud storage and database services
  • RevenueCat/Superwall - For subscription management and payments

Each of these services has their own privacy policy governing their use of your data.

Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Delete your memos at any time through the app
  • Disable cloud sync to keep all data local
  • Request deletion of your cloud data by contacting us
  • Export your data in a portable format

Children's Privacy

BetterMemo is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
